Neither stops a 60m² secondary dwelling being approved, but both are worth identifying before you settle on a floor plan.

In most South East Queensland councils, one additional on-site space for the secondary dwelling on top of whatever the main house already requires. Logan asks for considerably more where the dwelling falls into its auxiliary unit category, so confirm which category applies before designing.
Some blocks rule out most designs before you start — a long rear section, a fall across the site, or a main house sitting in the wrong place. The Valencia 60's narrow profile is built for exactly those, and it matters most where the Gold Coast requires the second dwelling within 10 metres of the first or where Logan requires it beside, behind, above or below the main house but never in front.
